iBooks appears broken with the 4.3.2 redsnow jailbreak. Anyone else see this? Everything else runs fine, and like everyone else has commented, it seems snappier.

Sadly, as long as the Apple fanboys continue to flock to the iPhone unconditionally AT&T will have little to no reason to upgrade the quality of their service.

For all of those people who are saying "Once it adds X I can finally remove MS from my computer..." have you not considered Open Office? I find its actually better than MS Word in many respects and being open source its totaly free.

A year ago I would of said Apple would never package iWork free with Macs, but the more I see that iWork is hardly setting the world alight the more I think it probably would be a better business model to package it with systems. Im sure they will offset the cost with selling more Macs in the first place but more importantly getting people hooked into buying the update each year ala iLife.

All I can say is wow, just wow. No wonder it has a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

[QUOTE=rekahs]surely if you look at it that way the ipod is in the position the 360 is in and the zune is like the wii.

    QUOTE]

Except that the wii is being marketed on the basis that it will bring something innovative to the table. If there's one thing Microsoft doesn't understand, its innovation/ease of use/elegance.

Mac sales really have been increasing the past couple of quaters. Hopefully, those new Mac buyers continue buying Apple products. Also, It's a good thing I own some Apple stock. :D

Really? So the fact that they did not have laptops with mainstream mobile quad core CPUs before Sandy Bridge when every other computers manufacturer had them is "immaterial" now? With LTE it's the same story all over. After they finally get in a year or two you'll probably be able to say again that it's immaterial. I bet it's very material to those who want iPhone with LTE now. Another major problem here is that Apple sticks to having just one model of iPhone (CDMA vs GSM differences aside). As if all people wanted the same thing. They don't.

Of course not all people want the same thing. That's why Apple isn't the only phone manufacturer in the world. You don't like their phone? Buy somebody else's.

Right, so with the bigger screen size, Apple has either:

    1) Dropped retina-display.
    2) Decided on a new resolution that developers will have to adhere to, given that DVGA (double VGA) has been in use for a year and HVGA was in use for 4 years (3 exclusively).

Yeah, I'm not buying in to either

EDIT: I did not read the OP, I'm a moron. Still, bigger display, same res? Pretty lame... Apple just didn't 'future proof' when they chose DVGA.

I want mine to use the old-school Mac voice that Radiohead used in "Fitter Happier."
I used to be a big fan of Radiohead, I have most of their albums, but I no longer listen to them. I'm gone very Jazz and 80's lately :p

I'd prefer a clean modern OS with usability first and foremost.

Who says they haven't? Maybe the iCal developers are so solidly done that they are dinking around with skins now?

And out of curiousity, what does a "modern OS" look like anyway? Is there some standard or generally accepted look for that? Or perhaps by "modern" you mean "not done before" ? I'm honestly curious about the answer to this.

    Screw the gratuitous eyecandy

Eye candy that gets in the way of functional is stupid. Otherwise, as long as I can modify it, I couldn't care less.

While I realize that this is the wrong place for it, that iMac I just bought is awesome although I was returning it either way for a larger hard drive so the update is best now.

Direct from DVD, it took Handbrake about 20 minutes to convert a movie to iTunes format. So sweet. And that's the lowest end 21 incher.

My Sony laptop does that in 10 minutes #justsaying

The apple two-for-one special - it's UGLY and FAT, and all you have to pay for is ugly.

God the iPhone 4 I'm trying this message on looks so much better than the white one.

    Full of fail.....

I blame Appleguy for this. I have sold the sandwich shop. No sandwiches for anyone anymore!!

You need my approval to sell the sandwhich shop which I (in God-form) have given you. Consider it denied.

Increased market share is a good thing, but I'm not sure how I'd feel if Apple overtook Dell...

as others have mentioned, i'm a little surprised that only the 17inch model has a 7200rpm drive option. i'm going to check with apple directly to see if i can get a custom 15inch with a 7200 drive. my audio apps don't work well with the anything slower.

having said that, the ram, fw800 and dual layer burner are a nice addition

Great to see another virtual machine app for osx/intel. I can't wait to get my hands on one and try all this new fun stuff out! I feel so left out.

...i'd install avid in parallels. ... more features quicker.

OMG! Avid in a virtual machine? I doubt, and I know I'm old and cranky, that Avid will ever work convincingly in a VM environment. Bootcamp hopefully one day.

TB isn't redundant right now, it's dormant. The TB port on the MBPs right now is effectively useless until there are peripherals to connect to it. But as this thread demonstrates they are coming. First to the pro market but it will drip down during the course of the year. I think Mac OS X 10.7 and iOS5 are going to provide more urgency for TB in consumer markets as well. WWDC will be the big kick off.

    Cool.

First has to be first somehow. ;)

I hope that iOS 5.0 and Mac OS X 10.7 (esp FCP) make TB much more clear to the peripheral makers and to the mass consumer.

    Cheers.

An "average" sustainable long distance pace (12km/h, about 8mph) will burn through about 1000 calories an hour. I suspect she's not running quite that much ;)

I seem to remember people out in the Arctic / Antartic tend to eat ~ 6000 calories a day, since so much is lost due to cold, etc. Maybe she lives in her fridge most of the day? (Which would explain the calorie intake too!) :)

    David

Traditionally the Eskimo's ate 6000 calories a day... mostly animal fat. They needed that much to survive a hunter gatherer lifestyle in a very cold climate.
