My husband just booked tickets for Washington DC to attend the rally. Very excited to be part of this rally!
Would like to encourage people from WA state to plan on attending this rally & make a difference!

When renewing EAD paper filing not E-file, I had written the check in favor of USCIS instead of "U.S.Department of Homeland security" , do you think there would be a issue for them to accept the cheque?

and it's still valid for almost 2 years.
If, say, I find another employer in a few months, can I use the visa that I have now?
If so, can I start working for that employer once he files a new petition, or do I have to wait until the new approval notice?

For those of you who have rotted in the BEC and USCIS..for many years..that has eventually denied you from being a citizen sooner..there are some posts in immigration.com I saw that talks about some kind of a campign to capture lost time...most of you will get GC soon..if you have wasted time..please look at a new campaign to recapture the lost time towards your citizenship

Dear Friends,
I am some one might have gone through this situation. I tried to look for old post but couldn't find it.. Anyways
I have an Advance payrol, I went for Stamping at Chennai US counslate. They sent for Name check verification(Security Clearence). I have been living in US since 2000 and travelled back and forth many times and got visa stamped many times and they kept my passport and upon mailing they will send my passport.
My question is Can I use Advance Payrol while my H1B stamping case is sent for Name verification(security Clearence)..Please let me know any one has use AP in this case

so many complications, so many rules to know - we might as well be immigration attorneys!! we (or at least some of us) pretty much know more about the INS and immigration laws than the average immigration attorney :D

Depending on where your would be spouse is ,there are two methods.
1. If she is outside the country , you would have to get her H-4 at the nearest consulate.
2. If she is in the country , and assuming you want to change her status to H4 , you can do it by filing the change of status form with USCIS.
Either way I do not think you would be requiring a lawyer. It is pretty straight forward. All the required instructions are on the form.

I will fell more comfortable if the experience letter mentions the last day as 5/17/2009. Otherwise I will simply mention it as April 2009. This way the continuous employment criteria will be met.

Rajiv Khanna from immigration.com held two conference calls on going back to school with a pending green card application. Not sure if your particular situation is covered but you can listen to the conference call recordings on his website. I believe these were in the April/Mat time frame.

Hi. I realized that I made a mistake when filling out the I 485 Part Three:
Processing Information. Specifically, I filled in the I-94 number issued for my H1B as the "Nonimmigration Visa Number", instead of the visa number I got when I was still in F1 Student status.
I called USCIS twice and they informed me that I can make corrections after I get the receipt--I can send in a corrected form, along with a letter explaining the correction, and also a copy of the receipt.
I was wondering whether anyone here had done that before.
I am kicking myself for misunderstanding the form! Please help!

Leave aside ranking, this MBA program is not accredited by AACSB (AACSB International-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (http://www.aacsb.edu)), the institution which accredits Business Schools. I wonder what value you will get in the market for an MBA from this University.

My H-1B petition is currently under processing in Vermont sevice center.
The receipt status shows it was recieved on May 8th and currently pending.
The processing dates on the USCIS website show May 31st as the current date.
Any reason why I still didnt receive a decision from USICS for my H-1B Petition? Does this mean anything? Or can i still keep the hope that I may receive a decision from USCIS?
They usually try to approve most of the new H1B before 9/30. You might get it approved in this week.

I have 140 approval notice in mail like 1.5yrs back...just today i put the reciept number on USCIS website and it says still pending..i called USCIS and they say they wont be able to discuss my case since 140 is employer specific only....my employer is sayin dont worry and dont bother about online status...i just want to make sure my 140 is really approved and USCIS has the correct update while lookin at my 485 file...i dont want them to put my 485 in hold just because of they thinkin 140 is not approved...

As long as you have approval copy on hand, you have nothing to worry. You should be concerned only if the status reads as 'case reopened and pending'

passport or travel document valid for at least three months after visa expiry date
In this case, they mean the schengen visa expiration date. For example, if I am travelling from April 1 to April 20th, they will give me visa only upto April 20th. They want my AP to have expiration atleast 3 months from April 20th (which will be July 20th) but my AP is expiring on April 10th.

Keep on calling SSN office and ask the status. After 1month ask them to expedite the request. It may take morethan 6months also as the systems are not in sync and ssn has to get confirmation from uscis.
